The Queen of Sheeeba [userpic]
That was exhilarating!

A very short, very violent storm started just as we left work today. It couldn't have lasted more than 10, maybe 15 minutes. Justin and me were getting driven to the bus depot during the worst of it. The 5 minute ride took more than twice as long because, well, you couldn't see out the window for most of it. By the time our bus left the terminal, it had mostly passed.

A lot of people didn't fare as well as I did. Downed trees, power outages, LI railroad has suspended all service. Dany left Brooklyn after it was over but there were downed trees on the Jackie Robinson and the Grand Central.

Our ride, Sweetie, picked up me and Justin at the bus stop and offered us a ride to the terminal the first day I was there and has very kindly driven us there every day since. Justin had said he rarely had to take the bus to the terminal since the beginning. She worked for a jewelry manufacturing company when she was younger and sold her own stuff to stores like Gimbles and Grants. "Oh, you're a real jewelry maker! One of these days we're gonna have a long talk and you're gonna tell me all about it." I'm pushy, aren't I.

Today's magic number: 162.

One of my Facebook friends just linked to pictures of the storm damage; holy shit. We had a sudden heavy rainstorm around the same time, so I guess we caught the edge of it.
