The Queen of Sheeeba [userpic]
Not so random but still weird-ass.

This week end on the Smithsonian Channel I watched two documentaries, one on Wanda Jackson-- the nice girl with the nasty voice. I'd never heard of her before but she kicked ass, practically inventing rockabilly in the 50's.

The other was a rectrospective on the roots of R&B and Soul. There was footage of The Mighty Clouds of Joy singing gospel (among many other roots acts.) They didn't sing this song since it was a secular hit but at least I know where my brain dug up:

Take a load off you mind
Ride the mighty glory
Listen to my story
Ride the mighty high

Come on and riiiiiide the mighty high!
Come on and riiiiiide the mighty high!

And because I know a lot of you crackers don't know what the hell I'm talking about when I get all oldie R&B, here's a youtube of a not too good recording of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2ddRQb_GOc&feature=related
