The Queen of Sheeeba [userpic]
Did it!

So, I went up to watch The Planets. Did you know it was a marathon? And that I can fall asleep without knowing? Woke up to find Dany had come home, seen what I was up to, left me asleep in bed, found a box cutter and was taking up the netting. He's dreamy.

Together we ripped up the rest of the slim strip. I was unable to pull up the tack strip or the staples that held down the foam with a hammer no matter how hard I tried. Justin came home, dug the pry bar out of the rubble in his 'room' and did the honors.

I'm so glad we did it. We used that corner for storage and never ever went back there. The cats, however, did. Even though they both are unballed. . . I won't get into what they did back there. Ebony came in, saw what we were up to and walked out. We were all calling her names until she came back 15 minutes later with Royal Chicken for us all.

Underneath the carpet is wood, which was expected since that's what they made floor out of back when the house was built. It's good wood, not rotted, level and solid- no splinters or cracked wood. But it's paint splattered. The outline of ghost furniture covers it. At one point someone decided that paining it with paint was a good idea. Tomorrow when I come home from work I'll scrub it down with some Murphy's.

It took 4 of us 3 years to remove one slim strip of carpet.
