The Queen of Sheeeba [userpic]
After that two day whirlwind cleaning stint. . .

. . .and carrying out two bags of garbage from the serious scrub down, there's nothing like watching a marathon of Hoarders to make you feel a little less disgusting.

Some of those people make me very sad but others make me angry. Like the woman from New Orleans who blamed everyone around her, complained that the crew only found the top part of her dentures in her pile of trash and when her decomposing arm chair disintegrated when the cleaners tried to move it. She's supposedly an animal lover but could only shrug and feign ignorance when not one but two dead cats were found in her den.

She was rotten to the daughter who raised the son she got taken away from her-- and she would have got the boy back too, if she'd only had the money to pay the fine and had air conditioning. She was just a miserable excuse for a human being.

Unlike the technical writer who's hoarding wasn't nuclear until her failing health had her sleeping tied to a medical toilet amongst her pile of "some treasures, mostly trash" and TWO YEARS worth of used Depends. "When I no longer had the strength to climb over the piles, I just tossed them behind the chair-- pop! No longer visible."

Her daughter burst into tears, "Two years, mom?!! Why didn't you tell anybody?"

"I didn't want to embarrass or burden anyone in the family. If I died like that, then that would be nobody's fault but mine."

The daughter had moved away as it seems many children of hoarders do, to get away from it all. She hadn't realized how bad it had gotten until her mom had to be rescued by paramedics when she slipped out of her medical chair while sleeping and was too weak and sore riddled to get up.

Watching this makes me want to get up and clean my house all over again.

After watching an episode of Hoarders a few weeks ago, I got rid of 4 bags of clothes we no longer wear and cleaned up a portion of my bedroom. I have to finish this summer.
