I stopped playing back in March and I feel like I've missed a TON of stuff. I mean, I wasn't so computer savvy to begin with, but now that I want to go back to playing, I feel like I'll be super lost, not to mention my guild has broken up (at least as far as I can tell) and none of my old friends seem to be findable. :( It just really sucks because half the people in my guild I knew in real life (and even one that I didn't know volunteered to pay my membership when I lost my job!), I wan an officer in my guild, we had people in a wide range of levels and we all knew eachother.

What I'm getting at is, how do I find that old dynamic that I had in the game again?
I miss that.

Also, anything super awesome or super lame happen that may effect a 79 hunter? :)

We're having a mighty cold snap down here in Texas: temps expected to hit 20F or lower tomorrow and the next night. No one's fruit trees are leaving or budding yet, but we're all wondering if we still need to protect our fruit and citrus trees or if they'll be okay without covering.

Current Mood: cold!

According to Wowhead

Shared Suffering - Inflicts 4,000 Shadow damage every 3 seconds for 12 seconds. If dispelled, splits the remaining damage equally between all players. Magic effect.

Just did HoR and two players got hit single high level damage; one for 16k and one for 12.5K. Is this a bug, a recount error, or have things changed?

I'm coming back to WoW after a bit of a hiatus, so I've been toying with the idea of levelling up my long-neglected warlock who was actually the first toon I made on WoW all those years ago. I've done a bit of research on the forums (*shudder*) about what the specs are like now.

I must admit I'm intrigued by Demo. I can't quite put my finger on why. Maybe it's the same thing I see in Boomkins: they've been so useless in endgame for so long and it's fun to see how they've grown into viability. Maybe it's just that I like being a (semi-)passive raid buff. Plus there's that whole occasionally-turning-into-a-demonic-engine-of-death awesomeness.

So I guess now I'm looking for some experiences of Demo locks. How is it for levelling (my lock is currently 71)? Is it as fun in raids as it looks on paper? Are there any particular stupids I need to look out for both in myself and others? Any and all experiences, tips, and such are greatly appreciated. :)

(EDIT: Just to be clear, by "Demo", I mean Demonology.)

I am proud to announce that one of my asian lily seeds has sprouted!
I got these seed at a plant swap several months ago and promptly put them on a dampened papertowel inside a ziploc baggie. I then put them in the refrigerator and forgot about them for 4 months.
Tonight, I happened to see the baggie and decided to take a look at them and there is a little root tip hanging out of one of the seeds.
Dagdab it, I feel like passing out cigars!

How have other Resto shammies been feeling about raiding lately? Are they even still around? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my Shammy. She's a beast, but I've been noticing recently that I'm feeling more...gimped than usual when it comes to raid healing. When a fight description starts with "everyone needs to spread out a lot", I die a little inside. Of course, I don't rely solely on Chain Heal, but I'm really not like having an entire quarter of my healing rotation rendered useless because of fight mechanics. Shammies are AoE healers, and I just can't heal as effectively using LHW spam. I'm also seriously hindered in fights that require a lot of movement as my only spell I can cast while on the move is Riptide with its 6-sec cooldown. I've been giving some thought to retiring my Shaman and gearing out my priest for Disc. If I can't heal, I'd rather not raid at all.

Any other resto shammies notice the same thing as I, or am I just being silly?

I was having a terrible time looking for a tutorial online for this (the one from HGTV is TERRIBLE), and a friend of mine helped me find a couple. This one was helpful for figuring out the sides. I figured out a lot of the rest on my own, and the top flaps are my own design.

I did the sides in vinyl, which kind of worked. I used about a fat quarter's worth of fabric for the lining. It turned out a little wonky, but I think that's because of the vinyl sides. Oh well, I know for next time.

Yup, It was my day off, and I got a lot done.

New content! The plagueworks wing is open, and there are new bosses to fight.

How is your guild/group doing?

We just downed festergut tonight, after a night of wiping yesterday and several tries tonight. Apparently server fifth. We had many attempts at Rotface, one of our earlier ones was best (35%ish) and didn't get as close on later tries.

Overall, the jump from the first four bosses to the next four (on 25 man, have not done 10 man plagueworks yet) seems to be rather.. harsh. Festergut especially. And, from what I hear, Putricide has been killed maybe once worldwide...

I figure the plagueworks wing is in for a nerf.. I mean, especially if Lady Deathwhisper got nerfed, these guys will too o.O

gotta be a few people here from Dragonmaw/Reckoning BG....

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be transferring over to Dragonmaw in the coming days and I was wondering what the pvp atmosphere was like over on the Reckoning Battlegroup Horde side. do we win? 50/50 or we a buncha noobs. I'm after the conquorer title, and I'd like to not go absolute barmy in WSG because horde doesn't know how to play the game :P

other than that, whats the pve situation like on Dragonmaw? are raids fairly puggable there (since the one person I know there can't guarantee me an invite to her guild) for a soon to be guildless casual with limited raid experience in WotLK (only reinstalled a few months back after a year long hiatus)

thanks in advance??

I play a Holy priest and have a question about spirit.  I'm at full T9 now with a few pieces of 235. I have gemmed/enchanted pretty exclusively for spirit, or int/spell power and spirit on the non blue gems. With the exception of the ICC 5 mans I can end just about every heroic at 75% mana or better. I don't EVER run out of mana.
We have a hot shot in the guild who likes to give advice to nub 80s and the other day I caught him telling a new 80 priest (Holy specced) to stop gemming/enchanting for so much spirit and to start putting some of it into spell power/crit. The guy hasn't played a priest since BC and I think he's dead wrong. When WotLK first came out everybody was switching to Disc priest because Holies were just about unplayable. But when they made the changes in spirit it made being Holy a viable spec again and I love the spec.
What say you, my much more experienced friends? Am I wrong or is he?

I have spent far too much time this fall/winter looking into gardening, and in my searching stumbled upon Terra preta and biochar. I'm intrigued, bordering on obsessed, with the idea of a soil amendment that will do such long term wonders.

I'm disinclined to buy charcoal for this purpose, considering the availability of waste wood heading to landfills and my DIY preference towards things in general. I've checked the laws in my area, and it might be something I can do myself if I'm careful and my neighbors don't complain, but doing it myself involves either constructing some sort of gizmo or buying a premade gizmo (pretty pricey). My metal working and masonry skills are nonexistent, or I'd make something (I don't mind learning, but I don't have the money for welding equipment). I'm not shelling out thousands. I've found a few DIY plans that are small in scale but require too high a percentage of the wood consumed to be burned and too many hours of open flames to make a very small amount of charcoal. I have been researching my local burning laws, but I'm going to end up calling the fire department anyway.

So, to my questions:

Do any of you make your own charcoal?
Any plans/methods I might take a look at?
Do any of you buy charcoal for this purpose? What should I look for?
Anything I'm missing?

My little black boy, Shilla, died overnight.

He liked to hide in plain sight by laying on anything dark colored - not a challenge when Mom prefers black clothes.

He would sit in my lap and look soulfully into my eyes, willing me to give him pettin's. Or he would threaten to bite my hand until I called him on it.

He would freak out if I sneezed, especially if he was in my lap. We got into the habit of saying "Sorry Shilla" when we sneezed, even if he wasn't in the room.

When Bob cut up Bucherole cheese, he would beg for it. He never really realized that other people foods might be edible, but something in the smell drove him nuts.

He had a bad knee (I always said it was an old football injury) and a tender tummy. But that never stopped him from playing.

He liked playing with the evil bright red bug, and with the catnip bubbles. I swear he and Moody invented kitty soccer.

He didn't like Mom picking him up - sort of like the teen boy who doesn't want Mom to hug him in front of his friends. "Mom, you're embarassing me!"

He could get into some of the most doofus sitting positions I've ever see a cat get into.

He and his littermate Moody were born on the anniversary of the marriage I was ending in 1999. They have always been the biggest symbol of the new life I made for myself after that.

I'll miss my baby boy.

Thanks everyone for the advice earlier last week. Last night I finally got the war hippogryph - no more ugly-ass swift red wind rider haha.

Btw the ears take forever, best way was just grinding steamvaults over and over. It was a pain as a warrior but it's over now =P

WHERE DID IT COME FROM?
HOW CAN THERE NOT BE A TRAIL OF DESTRUCTION?

The department-wide 'Susan is leaving' email went out yesterday. I've been slowly emailing others in my company circle about my imminent departure. One thing that's surprised me are the responses that say 'what will we do without you?' and 'you were so good at what you did - thank you for all of your support and hard work'. I'm also surprised at the amount of emails I've gotten about me leaving when they heard about it. Two I got this morning brought tears to my eyes, and I'm not even kidding about that.

Quite a number of people have come up to me to tell me that it's inspiring and good news that someone is leaving of their own volition rather than being laid off. I think it helps that I'm not leaving because I hated it here or hated my job.

xkcd cracked me up this morning:
